Eagle Kids Adventure Camp

Fun-filled outdoor adventure for kids ages 11-16 at Half Moon Bay. Activities include kayaking, paddle boarding, biking, hiking, and more. COVID precautions in place.

A great Adventure for kids Ages 11-16!

WHERE?  We meet at Chanteloup Ball Field Parking Lot-Beresford Park: 2720 Alameda de las Pulgas, San Mateo

After meeting up in the morning we will head for our field trip for the day.  We let the kids help to decide which activities they would like to do each day.

At the beach we will go to the Half Moon Bay Kayak Company to kayak, paddle board, bike ride and just play.

No experience is needed. It’s fun and easy to learn how to paddle, both kayaking and paddle boarding. We only paddle in the calm waters of the harbor, not the ocean.

The kayak company has all of the gear needed. They provide us with wet suits, life jackets, kayaks, paddle boards, bicycles and helmets.  If the waves are on the smaller side we might go boogie boarding in the surf.

Another fun option is to hike through the redwoods to play at the creek. We can make fishing poles and try to catch and release crawfish or make bows and arrows out of the redwood branches. We also have a couple of fun rope swings we like to swing on.

Regarding COVID Precautions:

We will have 12 children per group or less in the van and at this point masks are optional.

Children will need to bring their own snacks along with their lunch and water bottle. When at the harbor some children like to buy lunch if their parents prefer.

When the children are outside playing it is suggested that they do not wear their mask, especially when paddling and playing/swimming in the water.

CAMP

Hummingbird Adventurers (Cool Coyote Kids Camp)

Our camp focuses on letting children play in nature, exploring state parks, beaches, and farms. Adventures include visiting farms, beaches, and hiking in the Redwoods.

Our camp is focused on exploring and playing in nature. The goal of this camp is to let children be children, letting them play in nature while learning about their surroundings and the balance in nature.

Each day we take a small group of children and after meeting up for circle in the morning, we head off to different local state parks, beaches, creeks and farms.

Some of our past adventures include:

  • A day trip to Harley Goat Farm to look for frogs in the pond, visit the goats, pig and the Alpaca before heading to Pescadero beach to play. (We do not go into the ocean waves.)
  • A day trip to Half Moon Bay we might hike to see some horses or swing on a cool rope swing before heading to one of the local beaches to play. Depending on the beach we might dig for crystals at “dog beach”, build sand castles and explore the tide pools or
build a driftwood fort at San Gregorio State Beach.
  • Hiking through the Redwoods at Memorial County Park or Purisima Creek to play at the creek. We try to catch and release crawfish, count the banana slugs along the way and look for newts.
  •  A day trip to Hidden Villa to see their big garden, the farm animals and hike in the forest to play at the creek.

On all of our adventures, we have seen everything from the smallest insects, frogs, banana slugs, turkeys and deer to watching whales spouting and birds of prey flying.

Please, make sure to pack a snack and a lunch for your child and provide a booster seat if your child is under 8 years and 80 pounds.

We will have 12 children per group or less in the van and at this point masks are optional.
