This class is suitable for students who love S.T.E.A.M. and who wish to take on, their learning of robotics to a higher level. They will use VEX IQ robots and learn about different motors, smart sensors, chains, gears, and much more.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
Whether you’re new to the world of robotics or looking to take your programming skills to the next level, this program has it all. Students will use the VEX IQ Robotics Kit to build, test and program their own robot, maneuvering it through challenges and obstacle courses. This course will systematically prepare fundamental robotics skills for annual competitions. Students will build their skill set in physics, coding and the engineering design process. No VEX Robotics experience is required for students.
STUDENTS WILL BE:
• Challenged to think critically and divergently
• Developing computational thinking
• Becoming comfortable with iteration
• Valuing the importance of learning from failure
• Learning about jobs of the future
• Encouraged to develop a growth mindset
• Exposed to the newest and most advanced technology
• Gaining confidence and results in competitive robotic
• Students will compete in an unofficial competion at the end of our program
SAMPLE TOPICS IN CLASS:
• Gears and Gear Ratios
• Engineering Processess
• Pendulums, Pulleys and Levers
• Drivetrain, Object Manipulators and Lifting Mechanisms
• Bumper Switch and LED Touch
• Robotics Programming
• Autonomous Robot and Driver Control Programs
Grade: 4th-8th
*After completed this program, most learners can try to participate in the annual robot competition held by VEX, but it is more recommended to participate in the annual competition courses and training.
