For students in grades 8-12.Learn the art of drawing caricatures, or cartoon versions of yourself, your friends and family, or anyone you want! Students will be shown examples of caricatures, then they will learn the basic skills of drawing facial features, and will create black-and-white caricatures of each other to start.
You'll learn to create visual images that communicate ideas with humor and wit. Learn tips and tricks from a professional cartoonist and caricature artist with over 40 years experience, and turn any face into funny, whimsical comics and cartoons.
Afternoon Program: Words that Burn Performance poetry has become a popular and celebrated art form in recent decades. Combining elements of music, theater, writing, and performance ?slam? poetry (as it is known) has become a way for people on the ?outside? to express themselves. In this workshop, students of all ages and writing levels will learn how to communicate their thoughts, opinions, and feelings in a way that is both creative and clear. In addition to literary analysis and creative (as well as non-fiction) writing techniques, students will develop real world communication skills such as public speaking and performance. Students will find their unique writer?s voice and learn how to make the world hear what they have to say.
Cancellation Policy
Notification must be received in writing at least 5 business days prior to the course to receive a partial refund minus a $75 processing fee. If we receive less than 5 business days’ notice, you will receive a credit towards another youth program during the current summer session. NO refunds or credits will be given after the first day of the camp/program.
