Here’s 10 simple ways you can instantly improve your day:

Get Outside

Fresh air does wonders for the body, mind, and soul of children and adults alike.

It’s a known fact that many Vitamin D shortages are linked to depression and lethargy. Getting outside for even 10 minutes a day can greatly improve your health.

Get Moving

Your body needs to move.

We weren’t built to sit in chairs or perched at desks for extended periods of time.

Get in the habit of devoting some time out of every day to move; whether it’s jogging, a yoga class, or simply making it a point to stretch every day.

Play

It’s far too easy to get wrapped up in the “to-do” list of the day.

Set up a fort with your kids in the living room and play a game of hide-and-seek. It’s fun to be the fun parent.

The dishes can wait. Childhood can’t.

Dance

When life’s got you frustrated, turn on your favorite song and just boogie.

It’s amazing how quickly it will turn your day around.

Smile

Something as simple as a smile can make or break someone’s day.

Fake it till you make it–that forced smile will turn into a real one in no time.

Sleep

A lack of sleep and too much caffeine in compensation is a terrible cycle that too many of us get caught in.

As a parent, it’s definitely not always easy to find the time. But when you can, opt for sleep instead of a chore that can wait.

Even a 20 minute nap will recharge you moreso than a cup of coffee.

Treat Yourself

Can’t stop dreaming about that Frappuccino with whipped cream? Get it.

Sometimes nothing improves the mood like a satisfied craving.

Besides, you deserve a treat every once in a while.

Count Your Blessings

It’s easy to focus on the negative when things are going wrong.

Make it a point to focus on the positive aspects of life. A great way to do this is by keeping a gratitude journal. Every day, write down something you are grateful for. On tough days, you’ll have wonderful moments to scroll through to make you smile.

We tend to get so caught up in life that we overlook the little things that really matter.

Unplug

Turn off your phone. Shut down your computer. Unplug the TV.

Be in the moment. Enjoy the silence.

Connect

We all have one person that can make us smile and laugh at the drop of a hat.

Give them a call, reminisce over fun memories via text message, or better yet meet them for lunch and get the giggles flowing. What else are friends for?
